Everything is Being Shaken

Hebrews 12: 25-29

See that ye refuse not him that speaketh. For if they escaped not who refused him that spake on earth, much more [shall not] we [escape], if we turn away from him that [speaketh] from heaven

Whose voice then shook the earth: but now he hath promised, saying, Yet once more I shake not the earth only, but also heaven.

And this [word], Yet once more, signifieth the removing of those things that are shaken, as of things that are made, that those things which cannot be shaken may remain.

Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear:

For our God [is] a consuming fire.

We are living in a world that is shaking.  Nations and governments are being shaken.  Institutions are being shaken.  Churches are being shaken.  There is a shaking from the top down, and ultimately, people are being shaken.  All that is unstable or unworthy will be revealed.  As verse 29 say, “Our God is a consuming fire.”  God can shake affairs in the life of any individual believer, whom He loves and seeks to change. A church can be shaken if the lifestyle of believers, their relationship or the foundation of the church does not reflect the centrality of Christ. A region of churches can be shaken by the Lord to call His people to repent, to recognize and pray against spiritual authorities of evil who Satan has placed over their geographic area. One cannot separate the  shakings on earth from what is taking place in the heavenlies and vise versa. Chaos brings about change.

Pay attention to the shaking that is going on around us.  If there is instability in you, you will be shaken.  If you have been constructing something out of material that cannot stand, it will be revealed.  This holds true whether you are a Christian or whether you are a parent or an elected leader.  An unstable foundation cannot withstand the shaking that is going on.

Let’s look at the Holdeman Church in  particular.  There seems to be a shaking going on.  Whether this is a natural consequence of a structure that is built on an unstable foundation, or whether it is a state of affairs engineered by a select group of leaders who want to create  the church that they envision (one that is pure, without spot or wrinkle, as they deem it) it is impossible to say. In the end, it may all be the same.  The church seems to be in chaos.  One issue after another arises to challenge the individual church member with doubts, questions and decisions.  Claims of perfection and exclusivity will be tested with a shaking that will reveal whether or not it is true.  Why are there so many congregations without leadership at this time?  Why is the church rocked with scandal and ridicule?  Why is there no power to resolve longstanding problems and the issue of a drift?  The more that claims of perfection are being held out, the more that they will be tested.

If God wants to make a better person out of you, you will be shaken.  You will be asked to walk through dark times when you can’t see your hand in front of your face.  If you have been living a false life, you will be shaken so that the trash can be revealed and only that which is good remains.  There is only one sure way to survive the shaking.  Make sure your foundation is solid.  Make sure you are anchored and when your world is shaken, you can survive.  Things may be different than they were before the shaking, but the good will remain.  All of us have things in our lives that need to be shaken out.  We cannot truly see ourselves until we are shaken.  If we are based on lies and dishonesty, that will be revealed.  It is an opportunity to restore things to align more clearly with truth.  We can fall away or be restored.  The bible says that those whom God loves he chastens.  This is meant to burn out that which is not solid building material.  In these days, we cannot afford to be incorporating any faulty material into our building.  This goes for the corporate structure (church-wise speaking) as well as the individual structure.  Don’t be afraid of the shaking.  In the world nations are being realigned, leaders are being removed and cast down, lives are expendable and refugees are a massive problem. People have no where to go; they cross borders with only the possessions they can carry.  There is an exodus from countries and churches.  How will you be sustained when you are shaken?  There is nothing on this earth that will hold you.  Learn to rely on God and hear his voice. Never never rely on emotion, sentiment or dogma.  When everything around us has fallen, whether governments, businesses or churches, we can still remain standing.  No one can destroy what you have built on the inside, if it is built on a solid foundation.  How strong are you?  How strong is your faith?  If you have no faith, you will not withstand the shaking.  It’s coming. If it is not already here for you, then be prepared, because it is coming.
